The three related newspapers are focusing on Kurds in Turkey and the Kurdish-Turkish conflict. Because of that, the government regularly accused the newspaper Özgür gündem, until it was ceased in 2016. After that, the publisher started a new newspaper Özgürlükçü demokrasi in 2016 until it was also ceased in 2018. In the same year, the third newspaper Yeni yaşam started with the hope to continue after the first two-ceased newspapers.

Based on Worldcat search, these newspapers are only available at UC Berkeley Library and partially in Harvard. So there is no access to the historical issues of these newspapers in microfilm except that CRL holds a microfilm for 1993-1994 issues of the original newspaper, Özgür gündem.
