This proposal forms a fraction of Library of Congress, Nairobi Office Newspaper holdings that have stockpiled for over two decades. Most of the titles are not widely held in United States and may not even be available from country of origin. The selected collection covers diverse topics that would contribute to the understanding of the country’s politics, social, and economics conditions of the period covered.

Almost all of the 96 titles spanning a number of countries are deteriorated (yellowed, brittle and worn out) and in dire need of preservation. In addition, some of the titles will fill the gaps in existing microfilmed holdings and lengthen the runs of specific titles.
