Preserving Afro-Brazilian History: Abdias do Nascimento
This project continues the ongoing work, supported by CRL, of organizing and preparing the documents held in the IPEAFRO collection for microfilm and, in partnership with the National Library of Brazil, producing the microfilms. To date, IPEAFRO has delivered a total of 108 films (54 negative and 54 positive) to LAMP through the Library of Congress office at the U.S. Consulate in Rio de Janeiro. Brazil’s National Archive digitized part of the collection, and IPEAFRO has made digitized documents available to the public on its website.
The collection is divided into five sections: Black Experimental Theater Section, Black Arts Museum Section, Abdias Nascimento Political Activity Section, Abdias Nascimento Biography and Intellectual Work Section, and IPEAFRO Section. Two...

Publicaciones Políticas y Culturales Argentinas (C. 1900-1950). Microfilmed by LAMP in cooperation with Centro de Documentación e Investigación de la Cultura de Izquierdas en la Argentina (CeDInCI), the collection comprises printed materials issued by the political left and anarchist movements in Argentina from the early to mid-twentieth century, including periodicals, books, pamphlets, flyers, and other publications of communist, socialist, anti-fascist, and other leftist groups.

Rare Odia Serials at the Utkal Sahitya Samaj
This is a proposal to digitize six regional Odia language serials from the early twentieth century, held by the Utkal Sahitya Samaj (USS) in Cuttack: Baikuntha Bhikari, Puribasi, The Ratnakar, Utkal Barta, The Swadesha Lakshmi, and The Light. These titles are not present in Worldcat, and we know of no other holdings. We have received written permission from the USS to digitize their entire archive, and have chosen these rare serial holdings as a pilot project.

Spanish Sociolinguistic Research Collection, 1978-1992
The project includes two online digital collections of audio recordings of Spanish sociolinguistic corpora from Santiago, Chile, and Southern California from the late 1970s and the early 1990s. The recordings, which total 156 hours, were created by University of Southern California professor emerita of Spanish, Portuguese, and linguistics Carmen Silva-Corvalán. They were recorded on original audiocassettes—the majority of which are now nearly 40 years old—and include: 1) 93 hours of recordings from 49 Spanish speakers in Santiago, Chile, during 1978 and 1992; 2) 42 hours of Spanish-language recordings from 47 Mexican-American speakers from various age groups in Southern California in 1976; and 3) 21 hours including much code-switching between Spanish and English by 16...

This project would digitize CRL’s holdings for Ujedinjeno srpstvo = United Serbians for the years 1917 – 1922 and make them openly accessible on CRL's platform. It was a Serbian language periodical that was published in Chicago, Illinois from 1906-1948, but only the holdings from 1917-1922 are available at this time for digitization.

Las Voces de las Abuelas
“The voices of the grandmothers” is a project that aims to (1) restore, (2) create metadata, (3) preserve and (4) open the access to a collection of audio interviews made to mothers of disappeared, at the same time grandmothers of appropriated children during the last military dictatorship in Argentina. The content of this collection is 144 interviews made between 1998 and 2006 to 126 mothers/grandmothers that live in different parts of the country. They were taken by the oral history archive of Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo, the Family Biographical Archive, in order to deliver them to their grandchildren once they were found and restored. Vokrug Svieta digital archive (1861-2021)
Vokrug svi︠e︡ta /Vokrug Sveta is a Russian geography journal that began publishing in 1861. It is one of the longest-running Russian journals that was published initially from December of 1861 through 1917. It was not published from 1869-1884, 1918-1926, and during the years of WWII. This proposal envisions digitization of a complete run of the journal, as confirmed by Mike Peters of East View.

The Library of Congress no longer acquires Southeast Asia Chinese newspapers. This would ensure a Chinese language paper from Indonesia is preserved. Important documentation for Chinese influence and population in Indonesia. Wikipedia: Indonesia Shang Bao (Chinese: 印度尼西亞 商报), is a Mandarin-language newspaper published in Indonesia.
