Participating librarians and scholars provide information here about collections, archives and data sets of interest to area and international studies (AIS) research, propose preservation of those collections and the creation of new digital resources from data sets, and vote on the merits of those proposals. Community input provided here informs and guides the building of new AIS resources.

Bangkok Post Weekly Review
The Bangkok Post is the oldest, national English-language daily published in Thailand since 1946. It was founded by Alexander MacDonald who was an American ex-navy lieutenant. It covers local and global news on all topics. It is still a very popular English newspaper read by educated Thais and foreigners in Thailand. The Bangkok Post Weekly Review summarizes weekly political, business and social news reported by The Bangkok Post.
Bob Jones Indochina Collection of rare newspapers and serials
Funds are requested to digitize a number of rare serial titles from the Bob Jones Indochina Collection. These materials, collected by Jones while stationed in Saigon during the War, are mostly brittle or in poor condition. Two of the titles are already held by Cornell, and we intend to amalgamate our holdings, digitizing the better volumes from both collections.

Guo ji ri bao = International daily news
Microfilming of Chinese language newspaper from Indonesia. Guo ji ri bao 國際日報 = International daily news published out of Jakarta. (LCCN: 2006340503). The newspaper was started after the lifting of restrictions on Chinese language in Indonesia. Indonesia Shang Bao also is a daily newspaper business and finance Chinese which first published in the reform era after the collapse of the New Order government on May 12, 1998. Indonesia Shang Bao was first launched on April 17, 2000. Indonesia Shang Bao's biggest partners are the Bisnis Indonesia group and Sinar Harapan newspaper.

Liberty
Liberty was a national English-language daily (except Sunday) published in Bangkok in September 1945 by Manit Vasuvat who was Chair of the Sri Krung Publishing Company. It was a well-written, conservative paper designed for international readers. The paper reflected the perspectives of British-educated Thais in both domestic and foreign news. It ceased in 1956.

Powerful organization/association of contractors, this their trade magazine. Gelora 45 began 1964, ceased in 1965. Advisor/founder Amir Hamzah Sihombing died 1966. “Spirit of 45” The generation dedicated to Indonesian independence, making Indonesia a unified nation.W

The Library of Congress no longer acquires Southeast Asia Chinese newspapers. This would ensure a Chinese language paper from Indonesia is preserved.
